Despite the fact that the Democratic Republic of the Congo is the second largest country in Africa, spanning 2.345 million km², its education system continues to suffer due to low coverage, poor educational structure, and low quality.
This concern is even greater in rural areas, where resources are more limited and children are not afforded the same educational luxuries as our own might be.
In fact, the literacy rate of individuals 15 or older is only about 77%, with men maintaining a rate of 89% and rates as low as 67% for women.
That’s why at Aderc Canada, we are working to bring literacy to the Congo, one book at a time.
And with your help, we can do just that.
Aderc Canada is hosting a book drive, collecting books of all topics for all ages, so that we can promote increased literacy and learning to the most isolated areas of the Congo.
